Q&A WITH ANNIE ADAMS

Hi, I’m Annie Adams.

Before I started writing books, I became a florist, but not before many different jobs and a completely different career path. But that’s a story for another time. I own a full-service flower shop now. I grew up in and still live in Northern Utah in the United States, at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains. When I’m not at the flower shop or writing books, I love using my creativity in all kinds of projects and pursuits, especially gardening and I try to get out into nature as often as I can. I absolutely loved writing the Flower Shop Mystery Series and I hope you enjoy reading it.

Introduction to Quincy McKay

Quincy McKay is a spirited, resilient woman in her late twenties who unexpectedly finds herself running her aunt Rosie’s flower shop in beautiful, mountainous Northern Utah. Despite her love for the shop, Quincy faces constant challenges, from managing daily demands to handling the fallout from her cutthroat business rival, who is found dead under mysterious circumstances. As if that weren’t enough, Quincy must also confront personal struggles — like dealing with threats from her abusive ex-husband — and navigate the suspicions of local detectives, all while slowly building a romance with the charming Officer Alex Cooper. Smart, determined and loyal to her core, Quincy is a character who faces life’s hardships head-on, balancing humor with grit and finding unexpected allies, like her feisty new driver K.C., along the way.

Which book did you have the most fun writing?

I’ve enjoyed writing all of the books, of course, and I don’t know that I have a favorite. I have such a fun time coming up with wacky new things for K.C. to do, and the last book that I finished (A Thorny End) was a fun new way to include more interactions with Quincy’s good friend, Danny Barnes. It was so fun putting Danny, K.C. and Quincy all together in some outrageously funny predicaments.

What can readers expect from the rest of the series?

Readers can expect more fun of course! Funny situations, a sweet romance between Quincy and Alex — and will K.C. ever become a shrinking violet? I don’t think so. There are times when I re-read my books and even having written them myself, I find myself laughing out loud at times. And that’s what (I hope) readers can expect from this series of books.

Describe the series in 3 words

Humorous, heartwarming and fun.

What was the most fun thing to research?

Well they say “write what you know” in most beginner writers courses and I’ve definitely done that with The Flower Shop Mystery Series. But, besides that, I’ve visited marshes and bird refuges, taken courses on the Tarot, I’ve interviewed law enforcement officers, lived on a dairy farm and then there are all the jobs I’ve had! I love to travel, and if I can add a little titbit here and there in the books, I love to do that too.
