DIGITAL MARKETING ASSISTANT/EXECUTIVE

Joffe Books is looking for a creative, driven individual to join our Digital Marketing team as Marketing Assistant/Executive. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone currently working in a similar role or who is looking for their next step, with a passion for marketing, books, digital innovation and a start-up mentality. We welcome applicants without a publishing background.

Joffe Books Group includes Joffe Books, Lume, BookFolks and Choc Lit and is a leading award-winning independent publisher, covering all fiction genres and non-fiction. Reporting directly to the Head of Marketing, we want you to deliver innovative and engaging marketing campaigns across our titles, from established bestsellers to promising debuts.

Your key duties would include:

Using the full marketing mix, including social media and email marketing:

●      Developing and monitoring digital advertising campaigns using Facebook and Amazon ads among others.

●      Working alongside our marketing team to create marketing campaigns for several books per week, including copy and visuals.

●      Contributing to a variety of social media channels, including creating great social media assets, eye-catching ad images and brilliant copy.

●      Managing high-quality, consistent work across your own projects from start to finish.

●      Ensuring that advertising campaigns are supported to increase each book’s profile and sales.

●      Developing creative strategies for how we can spend money effectively so we can sell even more books.

Experience/skills required:

●      Experience assisting and/or managing the planning, implementing and measuring digital advertising campaigns in any industry.

●      Enthusiastic about all mainstream marketing channels.

●      Excellent copywriting and proofreading skills: press releases, ad copy, social media copy, awards submissions, etc.

●      A great eye for design including using various design software such as Canva and Photoshop and new technology.

●      Experience creating ads and/or videos (.gifs/.jpegs, etc.), and other publicity materials, using a variety of tools.

●      The ability to work collaboratively within a team and to communicate with authors, agents and the Joffe Books team effectively and straightforwardly.

●      Proactive and resourceful with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.

This full-time position is based at the Joffe Books office in Shoreditch, London, with a hybrid working pattern of working in the office (3 days) and working from home (2 days). If this sounds exciting, we would love to hear from you!

PROJECT EDITOR

 

Joffe Books is looking for a dynamic and detail-driven Project Editor with a passion for commercial genre fiction and a great eye for packaging.

Joffe Books is one of the UK’s leading independent publishers, known for bold, ambitious, digital-first publishing and a deep commitment to authors and readers.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to take their next step in publishing, work across a wide range of commercial fiction genres, and hone their digital publishing skills.

This is not a commissioning role.

In this role, you’ll project manage backlist and previously-published titles, handling everything from manuscript prep and cover design to copywriting and scheduling, and working closely with the rest of the team to articulate a book’s publishing strategy.

Your mission? To make great books discoverable and compelling for a 21st-century digital audience.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized and fleet-footed, with high attention to detail and excellent copy-writing skills. They will be deeply familiar with commercial genre fiction and the digital eBook market, and have a great eye for commercial packaging.  

Salary: £27–32,000 depending on experience

Key duties include but are not limited to:

●      Oversee republishing projects from manuscript to launch, meeting all key deadlines

●      Format manuscripts and prepare files for production

●      Write compelling blurbs and metadata that drive sales

●      Brief and commission commercially effective covers

●      Liaise with freelancers (editors, proofreaders, designers) and external suppliers

●      Coordinate with marketing, editorial, and production teams on publishing strategy and schedules

●      Build and maintain strong, supportive relationships with authors

●      Provide ad hoc support to editorial and publishing directors

●      Undertake copy-editing and proofreading as necessary

 

Experience/skills required:

●      A deep knowledge of commercial genre fiction

●      A critical eye for where a book sits both within its genre and within the market

●      Excellent Word formatting skills (setting styles, using wildcards, macros, etc.)

●      Meticulous copy-editing, proofreading and research skills

●      Excellent copywriting skills, with the ability to pinpoint a hook and write punchy, effective blurbs

●      Outstanding attention to detail

●      Excellent communication

●      Proven ability to work autonomously, juggle competing priorities and work to tight deadlines

●      A proactive can-do attitude and a great team player

●      Editorial or project editing experience in trade publishing preferred

●      Understanding of digital publishing and online retail environments

●      Familiarity with digital-first publishing is a plus
