AN INTRODUCTION FROM S. C. SHANNON
Brief intro
I’ve been a police officer for nearly twenty years, working in some of the most dangerous areas of Los Angeles. During that time, I earned a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and a master's in Forensic Psychology. Even more exciting, I start my second master's program this fall at Johns Hopkins University, pursuing a Master of Arts in Writing.
I recently got engaged while on vacation in Jamaica, so there are many exciting things happening in my life right now! I love reading and enjoy doing wine and book pairing reviews on Instagram for fun (@s.c.shannon.author). Additionally, I have a Rottweiler puppy who occupies most of my free time, but I absolutely love being a dog mom.
What inspired you to write THE THIRD GIRL?
My favorite writing style is using multiple points of view and timelines. For The Third Girl, I felt that creating a thriller centered around secrets and teenage girls was perfect for me. I also wanted to pay tribute to my childhood in the 1990s, so it was so fun to include some of my obsessions from that era in the “before” chapters. I’m sure a few will resonate with the readers!
How would you describe THE THIRD GIRL in 3 words?
Twisted, suspenseful, and shocking.
What are you currently reading?
What Lies in the Woods by Kate Alice Marshall. So far, I am really enjoying it!
How will you celebrate publication day?
I will definitely be celebrating with one of my fancier bottles of wine with my fiancé and my dog (who obviously won’t be drinking with us, haha)! Additionally, I will be hosting a book release party on June 14th with friends and family.
