QUICK-FIRE Q&A WITH LISA HALL

Please briefly introduce yourself.

I am Lisa Hall, author of seven bestselling psychological thrillers and the Hotel Hollywood time-slip cozy crime series, currently writing from an old converted stable in my back garden (usually with gloves and a hat on in this chilly weather!) I live in a small village in Kent, with my husband, kids and quite a lot of dogs.

When did you first know you wanted to be an author?

I always knew I wanted to write stories, but it wasn’t until my children were older that I came up with the idea that would become my first novel. Maybe it was just luck that inspiration decided to strike when the kids were old enough to entertain themselves and I could actually find the time to sit and write!

Which book have you most enjoyed writing?

I’ve enjoyed writing every book, and I think my favourite changes every time I finish one. Each time I think, ‘That really was my best work; I love it,’ until I start writing the next one and fall in love with an entirely new set of characters.

Have you had a surreal moment in your writing journey?

So many . . . My first time on stage doing a panel definitely counts as one. But I’d have to say being invited to collaborate on a book with an author who I’ve read for years has to be the most surreal!

Describe your latest book, Eight Years of Lies, in three words.

Secretive, manipulative and twisted . . .
