AN INTRODUCTION FROM ALESHA DYKEMA

1. Briefly introduce yourself

I’m Alesha Dykema. I’m a mom of almost 3 and a writer of psychological thriller novels.

2. What inspired you to write The Daughter?

A lot of time in the preschool car line. The majority of this book was planned and written from my car. Either waiting in the car line or in a Starbucks parking lot so my daughter would stay asleep while I wrote. It put the idea in my head of meeting a stranger at pickup and the rest grew from there.

3. How would you describe The Daughter in 3 words?

Family, abuse, survival.

4. What was the most random piece of research you had to do for The Daughter?

The most random would probably be how cosmology school works. It’s such a small piece of the book but I didn’t want to sound stupid talking about it!

5. How will you celebrate the publication day of The Daughter?

Oh, good question! I’ll probably make my husband take me out to dinner at our favorite restaurant (which happens to be book themed!)
