A MESSAGE FROM MICHELLE KIDD
My name is Michelle Kidd and I’m a crime fiction writer from Suffolk. Crime has always been my passion (writing and reading it, not actually doing it of course!) and with a career in criminal law behind me I guess it was inevitable I’d put pen to paper one day and write a crime series. I still work for the NHS alongside my writing, and when I’m not writing I enjoy reading, wine and cats . . . not necessarily in that order.
What kind of thrillers do you love?
I love any thriller that keeps me guessing and keeps me on my toes. The more twists the better. I also like a thriller that enables me to delve into the backgrounds of the main characters, and that includes the baddies! For me, crime writing is not just about who did the crime, and how they did the crime — it’s also about why they did the crime. There is nothing more intriguing than picking apart the mindset of a killer and discovering what it was that put them on the path to destruction.
What are you currently reading?
I am currently reading Lisa Jewell’s The Night She Disappeared.
Who would you pick to play the main characters from your novel?
This is always a very difficult question! I am dreadful at remembering the names of actors from TV programmes or movies. In my mind I can see exactly who Jack Macintosh is, what he looks like and his personality traits, but it’s so hard to fit all that into an established actor. Maybe a cross between James Nesbitt, David Tennant, Ewan McGregor and Liam Neeson! That should just about cover it . . .
Describe your novel in three words
Disturbing, twisty and addictive.
