A MESSAGE FROM JANE E. JAMES

I’m Jane E. James, a psychological thriller writer from the UK. I live with my two cats, Hero and Halo, who sometimes feature in my books, as does my hometown of Stamford in Lincolnshire. When I’m not writing, reading or pottering around in my cottage garden with the cats, I love to travel to far-flung places for solo adventures.

However, we jet off to Bali in my latest standalone thriller, The Honeymoon (out on 11 Feb in time for Valentine’s Day). I visited the island in early 2024 armed with my trusty laptop, knowing I intended to set this book there. It really is paradise, and I spent hours observing newlywed couples on the beach, as well as witnessing the odd quarrel or two.

The idea for The Honeymoon was a slow reveal, but before I knew it, the secrets were piling up along with the bodies. I hope you enjoy going along for the twisted ride with this cast of complicated characters. The shock ending is catching many early readers out and the beautiful setting makes this a perfect beach holiday read. Pure escapism.

As for me, I’m currently reading The Silent Wife by Karin Slaughter. It’s my first by this incredible author and I highly recommend. I’m a huge psychological thriller fan (no surprise there), but I do like to read something a little different when on holiday. The Honeymoon, with its dark plot, hidden secrets and multiple unexpected twists would be a perfect holiday read for me if I hadn’t written it myself.
