ANTHEA FRASER

Anthea Fraser is one of Britain’s most enduring mystery novelists, celebrated for her elegant, atmospheric thrillers. She began telling stories before she could even write them down and declared at five that she would one day be an author — a promise she kept after the birth of her two daughters, when she launched her professional writing career with short stories and, in 1970, her first novel.

Her breakthrough came with Laura Possessed (1974), a paranormal bestseller that led to a series of supernatural novels before she moved into romantic suspense and, ultimately, the crime fiction for which she is best known.

Fraser is the creator of two popular series: the long-running DCI David Webb mysteries and the Chiltern Hills mysteries, featuring spirited Rona Parish, a biographer-sleuth with a knack for uncovering trouble. Fraser is also the author of various standalones.

A respected figure in the crime-writing community, Fraser served as secretary of the Crime Writers’ Association from 1986 to 1996.
